Creating art has been my sanity break since I was about 5 years old. I have dabbled in pastels, oils, acrylics, charcoal, ink, copper enameling, leaded glass, mosaics, macrame, polymer clay, copper tooling, metal embossing, collage, murals, sewing, weaving, & rubber stamping. Now, I’m mixing things together & I’m starting to create items of mixed media.
When I was 12, I won a local art contest with a pastel portrait I did of a younger sister. The prize was a summer of classes at the Chicago Art Institute. My parents passed the prize on to the runner up because they decided that I was too young to mix with college age kids. They may have been right, but my heart was forevermore deeply etched with a dark and dangerous “FIGHT” response to anything that tries to impede my learning experiences!
I love to learn! I love to teach! Each day has a lesson to share…
Ouch! I can’t believe that your parents didn’t let you; being a very tolerant and liberal parent myself (my kids are grown up now and even though I raised them this way, they came out just wonderful!).
Anyway, it did teach you a valuable life lesson. You are definitely VERY creative and nice!
